This article is about an Excel spreadsheet that provides a variety of solutions for the engineer as well as musician. I hope you will find it useful.
This spreadsheet allows you to design vented speaker enclosures based on the Thiele-Small parameters. By entering the free air resonance (fr), Q (resonance magnification), and compliance (Vas) of the speaker, the optimum box volume is calculated. You may enter a custom box volume and see the plotted frequency response. It also calculates the vent dimensions based on the box tuning frequency. A section for designing closed or acoustic suspension boxes is also included.
This spreadsheet graphs the audible frequency range of various instruments including their harmonics.
A table of musical note frequencies are calculated based on the equal tempered scale or 12th root of 2.
Design your own fretboard based on a specific scale length.
This spreadsheet tabulates string tensions of various standard and non-standard string gauges. For more details on custom string gauge design refer to Vol. 2 - Custom String Gauge Design.
Graph the voltage waveform based on the Fourier Series with specific even and odd-harmonic amplitudes.
Design your own fretboard based on a specific scale length.
Design your speaker gauge for negligible loss and power handling capability.
Comparison of sound pressure level of real life sources.
Derive preset delay nodes in long hall systems based on distance and temperature.
Don't let other systems interfere. Know your wireless frequencies.
Contains Jeff's tempered tuning and setup.
Contains my tempered tuning and setup.
Calculates centerline locations of string spacing for a specific string gauge and nut width to give equal spacing between the strings.
I developed this workbook to help in my everday solutions with music and live performance. Use and distribute as you wish. Please retain the entire workbook with this copyright sheet intact. I will provide updates as I get new requests for ideas.
